Thrift Store Front of House Supervisor

Thrift Store Manager

 

SALARY:
40 hours a week at $14/hour with some benefits.

 

POSITION OVERVIEW:
Hillcrest Hope is hiring for a Front of House Supervisor. This person enjoys providing quality customer service, can motivate teams, is creative and forward thinking and a problem-solver. The Front of House Supervisor manages Cashiers and assists the Thrift Store Manager with volunteers and overseeing sales. The Front of House Supervisor and/or Back of House Supervisor will serve as the Store Manager in the absence of the Store Manager.

 

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Store Management & Merchandising
    • Makes process improvement recommendations for front of house processes to the Thrift Store Manager.
    • Oversees the processing of donated items, manages the rotation of items and the disposal of donated items in a timely fashion.
    • Ensures the daily Thrift Store deposits are tallied and match the same days cash register tape for the Stores cash, check, and credit card sales and that the days receipts are deposited at the end of the work period
    • Experience with point of sale,” computerized sales & inventory systems.
    • Contributes to the development of annual revenue projections and meets financial goals.
    • Maintain and increase knowledge of resale, thrift, consignment and retail trends through daily reading (e-mail list serves, publications) and participation in webinars, staff meetings, and periodic offsite training.
    • Operates the cash register and covers cashier lunch breaks.
    • Maintains inventory of the store supplies.
    • Clerical duties to include but not limited to: answering voicemails, emails, and scheduling donation pickups.
    • Data entry for community service hours and volunteer hours weekly.
    • Coordinate and/or facilitate weekly orientations for all new volunteers.

 

  • Staff Management
    • Assists in the hiring, supervision, evaluation and professional development of front of house staff under store managers direct supervision.
    • Coordinates with Thrift Store Manager to ensure the development of a weekly schedule for all front of house paid staff and daily schedule of volunteer coverage to maintain adequate personnel at the store to accomplish tasks and respond to customers.
    • Assist the Thrift Store Manager in volunteer trainings and supervising store volunteers; helps with recruiting of volunteers.
    • Maintains current knowledge of agency policies and procedures as they relate to personnel; monitor staff for adherence to policies and procedures; take corrective action as necessary to ensure staff is in compliance.
    • Consults with staff on a regular basis, addressing concerns and sharing ideas.
    • Provides timely direction and written and verbal feedback to staff.
    • Assists in staff training in agency policies and procedures.
    • Supervise and lead community service and volunteers.

 

  • Marketing & Promotion
    • Assists Thrift Store Manager in monitoring data for sales and current inventory analysis in order to develop projections and recommendations to retain customers and increase sales.
    • Oversees the display of merchandise inside the store to enhance the appearance and appeal of the store.

 

  • Customer Service
    • Provide exceptional customer service to internal and external customers and ensures staff and volunteers provide the same quality customer service.
    • Promote excellence in the customer service experience for all visitors to the thrift store through staff training, stakeholder surveys, and focus groups.

 

Qualifications

  • Associates Degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or two years related retail management experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to handle a cash register and teach others how to handle one, which includes void transactions, discounts, tax exempt sales, etc)
  • Excellent math skills and familiarity working with cash receipts.
  • Must keep information in a confidential and secure manner.
  • Must be self-motivated who can work in a constantly changing environment.
  • Must be able to adhere to project and work deadlines.

Working Conditions

  • The Front of House Supervisor usually works in the thrift store but the mission of the organization may sometimes take them to nonstandard workplaces.
  • Hours will be determined by the thrift store demands and must be flexible.
  • Able to perform the basic functions of the position, including extended hours standing, bending and stretching,
  • Able to lift merchandise up to 30 lbs. on a consistent basis.
  • Speaks clearly and distinctly to perform extensive communication required with customers, donors, and other third parties.
  • Appears professional always.
  • This is a full-time hourly position.
