Development and Communications Manager

REPORTS TO:
Director of Operations and Development

 

SALARY:
25 hours a week at $20/hour. Hours may increase during busier times.

 

POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Development and Communications Manager is an important member of the Hillcrest Hope Team. This role is responsible for administering the organization’s communications and some aspects of development. The ideal candidate has an entrepreneurial and creative mindset.

 

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Fundraising

  1. Implement strategies for solicitation that will grow annual revenue from individuals and small to medium size businesses: manage all appeal campaigns, manage and monitor online giving initiatives, work collaboratively with other program areas to advance fundraising goals.
  2. Oversee database management, gift processing, development and fulfillment of donor benefits, gift recognition, and mailings.
  3. Assist the Director of Operations and Development on the management and planning of fundraising events and donor receptions.
  4. Assist Director of Operations and Development in the coordination of event logistics to ensure an exceptional donor experience, with a focus on cultivation and stewardship.
  5. Assists Director of Operations and Development in the creation and management of event timelines, program and task lists for all Hillcrest Hope hosted events.
  6. Other duties as assigned.

 

Communications and Marketing

  1. Utilize the marketing plan to communicate the organization’s activities.  Including, but not limited to:  graduations, progress reports, spotlights, profiles, press releases and videos via the Organization’s website, social media platforms and eNewsletters, etc.
  2. Monitor or perform any website changes, newsletters, updates, and emails
  3. In coordination with the Leadership Team, develop an Annual Report for investors and community partners
  4. Develop an annual marketing calendar to establish a framework for communication and event planning
  5. Collaborate with staff to create print materials related to fundraising, including talking points and briefings.  Work with program staff to understand and communicate effectively about Hillcrest Hope projects and accomplishments to be able to share these with investors, potential investors, and community organizations.
  6. Other duties as assigned

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Education – Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred

Professional designation – None

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  1. Experience in e-communications/social media, digital advertising and its effective use in communications and marketing.
  2. Experience in website technologies and website development preferred.
  3. Experience in video production and photography is a plus.
  4. Graphic design experience a plus.
  5. Ability to work independently and in team situations.
  6. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  7. Excellent organizational skills and the ability to multi-task effectively.

Experience

  1. 3 to 5 years of experience in a nonprofit section organization preferred.

 

Working Conditions

  1. Development and Communications Manager works 25 hours a week and may be required to work some evenings and weekends. Hours may increase during busier times.
  2. Development and Communications Manager usually works in an office environment, but the mission of the organization may sometimes take them to nonstandard workplaces.
  3. Able to perform the basic functions of the position, including extended hours standing, bending and stretching.
  4. Able to lift and carry supplies and equipment as needed.
  5. Speaks clearly and distinctly to perform extensive communication required with staff, clients, donors, vendors and other third parties.
  6. Appears professional at all times.
