Thankful Fall

Fall at Hillcrest Hope could not be any more full-full of volunteers, full of support, full of thanks. As we head toward the holiday season, we are surrounded by so many that carry our mission forward. Whether that is with rakes and shovels in hand, competing to collect much needed supplies, or carefully prepping crafts for the children of Hillcrest Hope, this community has not ceased to bring about good this fall. Our properties look beautiful, our pantries are filling, and our families are cared for and invested in. For the time given is an investment, in both Hillcrest Hope and the families that move toward a hope-filled future.

Our first round of blessing came as we tore down an old set of stairs in Avondale. Rebuilding Together Clay County, an outstanding community partner, has long provided teams for needed projects on their annual Rebuilding Day. Rebuilding Day 2016 brought men from the LDS Doniphan Ward to complete a railing and tackle some deck repairs on the six decks at our Avondale property.

With father and son team working on the railing, other men climbed the heights to repair our decks.

The following day, Team Jesus of St. Stephen Lutheran Church dispersed into the community to put the “serve” in church service..

Then, thanks to The Call KC, North Kansas City High School accomplished its newly instituted fall day of service. 100 students spread out among our two housing sites and thrift store to make a big impact and all in one day!

Finally, in images, we are able to share that Cub Scout Pack 376 competed to “TP Hillcrest Hope,” creating the tallest towers of toilet paper.

We could not be more thankful this fall for each and every one of you!
