Liberty Rotary Playground Project
On Saturday, July 9th, the Liberty Rotary Club playground project was underway at the Hillcrest Hope housing site in Avondale. They hauled off rotten lumber, shoveled out insect-ridden mulch, and worked hard to improve the playground for the children of Hillcrest Hope. Their active attention to the community and a devotion to service is a reputation that precedes the club.
The Liberty Rotary Club just celebrated 81 years as a local civic organization, having made a significant impact for these several decades on the Liberty and entire Clay County community. Their Rotary International motto, “service above self” has been acted out in numerous ways, through scholarship funding for local students to a variety of service projects.
When asked, Frank Dixon, past Rotary president, shared that the reasoning behind taking on the playground project was twofold. “Hillcrest Hope is near and dear to so many Liberty Rotarians,” Frank explained, “and we also love the opportunity to do something to help improve things for kids in our community.”
The commitment is longer-lasting than just a day project, with additional support coming in the way of tree-trimming, a kiddie mulch layer, and a desire to continue making improvements at the Hillcrest Hope housing sites.
Thank you, Liberty Rotary Club!
