Second Annual Hillcrest Hope Gala Celebrates Graduates

On August 29, nearly 300 Hillcrest Hope donors and supporters gathered for Hillcrest Hope’s Second Annual Gala, “Night of Hope.” The fun excitement over won auction items and the phenomenal stories of graduates all led to an outpouring of generosity: enough funds were raised to put 31 more Clay County families through the program. It was the greatest amount ever raised in a single night for Hillcrest Hope.

Celebrated at the beautiful Heritage Hall in Liberty, the Gala was a festive evening honoring the work of Hillcrest Hope and the success of its graduates.

With a notable lineup of sponsors, Gala guests enjoyed a beautiful meal catered by Shining Stars catering, as well as stylish cocktails poured by local mixologists from Morning Day Cafe, Rock and Run Brewpub, Port Fonda and Cafe Gratitude. The Gala welcomed guests dressed in black and white party attire in keeping with the night’s theme, “Celebrate the Night in Black and White.” Event coordinator Anne Nordwald described the atmosphere, “Everyone really enjoyed themselves; laughter and conversation was abundant.”

After the first round of cocktails were poured and dinner was served, emcee Martin Augustine, KMBC 9 news anchor, kicked off the program. Hillcrest Hope gave its Dedicated Volunteer Award to Debbie Raines, and recent program graduate Holly Anaya shared her personal story of the life-changing impact of Hillcrest Hope’s support, receiving a warm standing ovation.

Next, the live auction began with Auctioneer Jeff Cates running the show. The hit prize was a set of Royals tickets and a signed jersey by Salvador Perez. The auction closed with a final Fund the Need opportunity to give to Hillcrest Hope.

Hillcrest Hope keeps its families at the heart of every aspect of the Gala. “We’re having fun, but it’s constantly focused on the graduates and supporting Clay County and Hillcrest Hope,” says Anne Nordwald, Event Coordinator and Clay County Program Assistant.

Hillcrest Hope thanks all who attended the Night of Hope, those who gave an abundance of raffle and auction prizes, and the event’s amazing sponsors: Platte Valley Bank, GM Peters Insurance, Hallmark, Heartland Chevrolet, The Kristi Soligo Team and Pony Express Bank.
